Wildwood Crest, NJ
Wildwood beach in New Jersey has always bee a favorite destination for families. The boardwalk is about two miles long ( 38 blocks) and includes three Amusement Piers filled with rides, two water parks, and attractions for all levels of thrill seekers. Wildwood host over 180 events a year including Classic Car Festival, International Kite Festival, Irish Festival, Italian Festival and many more. The boardwalk is clean and well-lit. The kids will enjoy the numerous arcades, miniature golf, treats and carnival rides. Souvenir shops are plentiful and include your usual beach souvenirs but also rock ‘n’ roll paraphernalia, poster shop, candy shops, beach decor, jewelry and even a cute mall on the boardwalk. A variety of food aromas will definitely make you hungry if you weren’t when you started out. You can find pizza parlors, greek food, hamburger diners, ice cream stops,
frozen custard, pretzels and that is just the beginning. If you want to stay in the quieter side of town but still be within walking distance to the boardwalk, I like Wildwood Crest. Wildwood Crest is south of the boardwalk and you will find dozens of hotels right on the beach. A few of the favorite restaurants in Wildwood are Little Italy, Boathouse Restaurant and Marina Deck, Ice House Restaurant, Urie’s Waterfront Restaurant, Key West Cafe, and Cattle ‘n Clover. If you want the best chicken pot pie that you’ve ever had, go to Crest Tavern on Wednesday night. They are well known with locals so get there early because they will run out. For ice cream you must go to Duffer’s Old Fashioned Ice Cream Parlor. There are also bike rentals scattered through the boardwalks. Visit the Cape May National Wildlife Refuge while your there. If you want to escape to Cape May, it is only an 18 minute car drive. A couple of things to see in Cape May are Cape May Lighthouse, the wreck of the concrete ship, take a trolley tour and see all the Victorian homes, and shopping and restaurants along Washington Street Outdoor Mall. For some of the best sunset pictures, walk to the other side of Wildwood opposite of the beach, to the bay as the sun is setting. You’re in for a beautiful treat! I have gone every year for over the last twelve years and never get tired of going.
