8 day trip through Alberta, Canada.

DAY 1:  First night upon arrival will be in Calgary.  We will rent either vans or cars depending on how many people we have.  While in Calgary you may want to check out Canada Olympic Park.  They have a cool Bobsled Ride that goes 50 mph.  Also the Calgary Tower at 1228 meters above sea level, the Calgary Tower is home to the highest 360 degrees observation deck in the world and is  your gateway to art, culture, entertainment, and nightlife.

DAY 2:  The next morning we leave to Banff National Forest and meet our first day-trip tour.  See the best that Banff National Park and the surrounding wilderness have to offer — including beautiful Emerald Lake, stunning Moraine Lake and towering Takkakaw Falls — on this full-day guided coach tour.  Over the course of 9.5 hours, you’ll discover some of the most awe-inspiring natural scenery of the Canadian Rockies, with time to spot some of the area’s diverse wildlife, plus enjoy lunch and round-trip transport from your Banff hotel.
DAY 3:  We will enjoy the Banff Gondola Ride.  Maximize your views of Banff National Park with minimal exertion during this round-trip gondola ride to the top of Sulphur Mountain. Take in views of 6 different mountain ranges and nearby rivers aboard your state-of-the art alpine transport, offering large windows and seating for 4 guests.  While on top, feel free to explore the boardwalk leading to Sanson’s Peak, a national historic site, or just sit back, relax and enjoy the view. When you’re ready to return, simply grab the next gondola back down to the base of the mountain.

DAY 4:  Free day to explore all the Banff has to offer.
DAY 5:  Travel Jasper via the Icefields Parkway.  The parkway has been labeled the most spectacular journey in the world.  To travel the Icefields Parkway is to experience one of Canada’s national treasures and most rewarding destinations. Stretching 232km (144mi.) through the heart of the Canadian Rocky Mountain Parks World Heritage Site, this world-class journey offers access to a vast wilderness of pristine mountain lakes, ancient glaciers and broad sweeping valleys. This special travel route winds its way through two national parks, boasting a unique and irreplaceable landscape rich in history and natural beauty second to none.  Along the way we will be making stops at several attractions.

Day 6:  Take an outdoor-lover’s odyssey along Alberta’s famous Columbia Icefields Parkway, stopping to enjoy incredible scenery and a ride on the Athabasca glacier, during this 5.5-hour excursion from Jasper. Drive along this incredible roadway, set among two incredible national parks, admiring glacier-fed streams, iconic mountains and local wildlife as you go. Then make a stop for a ride aboard the all-terrain Ice Explorer on the surface of the Athabasca glacier. This Columbia Icefields excursion also includes admission to the Glacier Skywalk attraction, buffet lunch and round-trip transport from select hotels in Jasper.

DAY 7:  You will have to choose between two tours.

Tour #1 Ride The Steel Rails:Climb aboard the steel rails on this 5-hour combination railroad and van trip traversing the beautiful wilderness of Alberta and British Columbia. Start your trip by train, weaving your way through Yellowhead Pass and along the Fraser River, passing Mount Robson, the Canadian Rockies’ tallest peak, before arriving in Dunster, British Columbia. Then climb into comfortable van for the return drive, making stops along the way at the Mt. Robson Information Centre and to spot creatures like deer, bears, coyotes, eagles, moose, elk, salmon and more. Your combination wilderness train trip and van ride includes round-trip transport from your hotel and a guide. Get a taste for the stunning scenery of Alberta and British Columbia on this 6-hour journey from Jasper, combining a train trip and scenic van ride back. Along the way you’ll experience incredible mountain scenery and a chance to possibly spot wildlife like bears, elk and more. It’s a great way to enjoy a quick train trip without needing the time to travel across all of Canada. Start your journey with a pickup from your Jasper hotel at 12:30pm, continuing to the train station for your ride to British Columbia. Then it’s “all aboard” for your scenic 2.5-hour train journey, first traveling through Yellowhead Pass, then skirting the edge of the Fraser River and enjoying incredible views of the Canadian Rockies’ highest mountain, Mount Robson, along the way.

Tour #2:  Mountain Lakes and Waterfall Day-Trip:  Experience the most incredible sights in Jasper National Park’s Maligne Valley during this 6-hour guided excursion to the region’s most scenic lakes and majestic canyons. Check out Medicine Lake, Maligne Canyon and Maligne Lake during your trip, keeping your eyes out for area wildlife, and learning about the unique natural history (and more recent human settlement) of the Canadian Rockies. Over the course of the day you’ll also get to enjoy short walks through the beautiful scenery, and a boat ride Maligne Lake. Your Maligne Valley trip also includes round-trip transport from your Jasper hotel. Discover some of the most spectacular scenery in the Canadian Rockies, enjoying fun hikes and wildlife spotting on the way, during this 6-hour excursion to the Maligne Valley in Jasper National Park. This spectacular national park offers a jaw-dropping range of natural scenery that has to be seen to be believed. Start with a pickup from your Jasper hotel in the morning, traveling by air-conditioned coach with your guide into the beautiful surroundings of Jasper National Park. Make your visit stop of the day at Maligne Canyon, proceeding on an easy walk over two bridges that traverse 165-foot (50-meter) deep gorge etched into the area’s limestone. Admire the incredible views as cascades of water pour into the canyon, and join your guide for a short explanation of the area’s wildlife and geology. Board your coach and drive next to Medicine Lake, tracing the path of a scenic highway as it snakes through the nearby forests and mountains. Arrive at this beautiful alpine body of water, learning about its mysterious “disappearance” every summer, which is caused by the water’s retreat into an extensive network of underground karsts (among the biggest in the world).  Continue from Medicine Lake on to your next stop to Maligne Lake, taking time on its shores to enjoy a boat ride to the postcard-perfect Spirit Island or a nature walk for 2 miles (3.2 kilometers) along an easy trail. Those who select the hike will trace the Mary Schaffer Loop trail, proceeding along the banks of Maligne Lake with a gorgeous lookout. The site offers a variety of benches and interpretive signage, allowing you to take a rest before continuing back to your starting point. Those on the boat cruise will climb aboard their vessel, complete with enclosed cabin and extra-large viewing windows, as they travel across this incredibly scenic body of water. Make a brief landing at the pine-tree covered Spirit Island, enjoying a chance to take a few photos and wander around before returning to the boat and back to shore. As you proceed through the course of your day’s activities, listen to interesting commentary about the human and natural history of the region. You’ll also want to keep your eyes peeled for the abundant wildlife known to frequent the area, which includes caribou, wolves, deer, bear, bald eagles, osprey, bighorn sheep and moose.  Finish your day’s activity with a drop-off back at your Jasper hotel.

DAY 8:  Drive back to Calgary for the night with enough time to make stops along the way.

DAY 9:  Depart to airport.
